These calipers solve the problem of trying to find the centre-point between measurements on curved surfaces.
They are especially useful for Luthiers and other musical instrument makers, as well as people working in physical media, where the surface is not flat – eg: wood-turning and pottery.
They work in flat surfaces as well, so artists and designers might find them useful – especially useful in media with delicate or unfinished surfaces – eg: not-quite-dried oil-paint where a ruler will make a mess.
